Changing tires To remove the tire, unscrew the valve core and the retaining nut. Place the wheel flat on the ground, or still better on a clean flat surface to prevent dirt from penetrating between tire and inner tube. The brake disc must be uppermost. Press the tire down into the rim well all round Apply foot pressure opposite the valve to keep the tire down in the well, and insert two tire levers next to the valve to lift the tire over the rim shoulder Fig. 28 Take out the inner tube and lever off the second tire bead in the same way. When a new tire is installed, the inner tube should be renewed at the same time. Always use a tire and tube from same manufacturer, and of the correct sizes. Do not patch the tube except in an emergency, and if so renew it at the earliest opportunity. To fit the new tire, press the tire bead over the upper rim lower shoulder. This must be done step by step and without using force.	29 A suitable slip agent should be applied (e.g. Contifix or Michelin Tire Fitting Emulsion. Use tire levers if the tire is difficult to fit. Insert the inner tube, pass the valve through the rim hole and secure it with about 5 turns of the valve nut, to prevent it from slipping out. Inflate the inner tube slightly. If no other air line is available, the air pump under the dualseat can be removed and used to inflate the inner tube. Fig. 29	Starting opposite the valve, press the second tire bead into the rim well with the foot. Finish off by lifting the tire bead over the rim shoulder alternately at opposite sides, with the tire levers. The valve should be pressed back as far as the valve nut will permit during this stage in the work. Inflate the inner tube fully and check that the tire is correctly positioned on the rim: the checking line should be the same distance from the rim all round on both sides. Note the specified tire pressure - see pages 83 and 92. Have the wheel and tire balanced. Important note: If special off-road tires are subsequently installed, the top speed permitted with the standard tires may no longer apply.
